The dos-à-dos book form means "back to back" in French. This structure visually represents opposition, dialog or duality. The dos-à-dos is a wonderful way to organize information and have students engage with it creatively. In this workshop, participants will create 3 dos-à-dos books to use with different grade and skill levels as well as engage in methods on the use of this book in the classroom. Instructor: Cheryl Ball, ILSP Specialist & Co-founder of Book Arts Roadshow (FREE. Pre-registration required. Contact us for registration details.)
Thursday, October 17, 2019 - (4:30 PM to 7:30 PM) - A Professional Development Workshop: Making Books in the Classroom - Book Arts Roadshow returns to Contemporary Jewish Museum to offer teachers and school administrators an introduction to book arts, hands-on bookmaking activities, and inspiration to spark bookmaking ideas in the classroom. This is an excellent primer for the Ezra Jack Keats Bookmaking Competition which promotes the art and craft of original bookmaking in the classroom, and invites students in grades K–12 in the San Francisco Unified School District to design, write, and create their own books. Books are honored, showcased, and celebrated! Instructors: Cheryl Ball & C.K.Itamura Co-founders of Book Arts Roadshow (Registration details are available here.)
